In Memory / In Honor

Scholarships, faculty chairs and professorships, campus facilities and other gift options may be named after special individuals. Gifts may be made by a donor or by a group of people the honored individual inspired. You can learn more about in honor and in memory donations.

In the spirit of true Cowboy generosity, many donors establish commemorative gifts to honor a loved one, a special mentor, a professor or a friend. These unique gifts not only provide essential support for OSU, but also ensure the honorees’ legacy will endure at Oklahoma State.

Memorial Contributions

Memorial gifts ensure a person’s legacy will endure at Oklahoma State University. The OSU Foundation is honored to help families establish opportunities to pay tribute to their loved one.

Family members and friends may contribute to a memorial fund following the death of a loved one. The individual’s family often chooses to establish a memorial scholarship to celebrate his or her life and love of OSU. Doing so guarantees that future generations of Cowboys will hear this individual’s story and be inspired by their passion for Oklahoma State.

The OSU Foundation will provide the next of kin contact with names and addresses as well as thank you cards of contributors of memorial gifts every few weeks.

Honorary Gifts

Honorary gifts celebrate an individual’s connection to OSU.

Many alumni groups, families and individuals choose to create an endowment or make a one-time gift in honor of a respected mentor or friend. These donations pay tribute to influential people who serve as an inspiration to the rest of the OSU community.

The OSU Foundation will provide the individual being honored with names and addresses of contributors.

Making a Gift

If you would like to make a donation in memory of someone but do not know of a particular fund, please donate to the Memorial Fund, and designate who the gift is in memory of using the check box provided. The gift will be held in the Memorial Fund until the family has made a decision on where they’d like to direct the gifts. If no decision is made, gifts will be transferred to the General Scholarship Fund, supporting OSU’s most vulnerable students.

Please note that without the memorial/in honor boxed checked and the name included of who the gift is in memory/honor of, it can be hard for us to notify the family/honoree, no matter the fund the gift is given to. Please always check the box and leave the name to ensure we can communicate your gift intentionally.

If you have questions about making a gift in memory or in honor of someone, please call 405.385.5100 or email info@osugiving.com.
