Interdisciplinary Research Building – Equipment and Facilities:
Currently, OSU Research is building an exceptional research facility on campus, designed to facilitate cross-disciplinary research projects in the physical and biological sciences. Our greatest need in this area is to completely outfit the inside of the building, utilizing cutting edge laboratory equipment and the latest in laboratory design elements.

The University Multispectral Laboratory is a National Sensor Testing and Integration Facility, in partnership with OSU, ConocoPhillips and the Ponca City Development Authority. This partnership fuses academic, tactical and technical perspectives in technology development and enables the rapid and successful transition from technology in the lab to real life applications. The greatest need is for renovation of the current facility, allowing the partnership to grow and develop into a nationally known center of excellence.

The Early-Stage Technology Development Fund is a great need as we move forward with the commercialization of OSU’s technology. Many OSU faculty are creating useful technology but lack the monetary support to make it though the final “development, testing and evaluation” phase of a project. This fund will cover the “gap” that exists between what federal grants and angel investors will support, allowing more of OSU’s discoveries to reach the marketplace.

Undergraduate Research Scholarships help to build the research capabilities of our students and often influence their career choice. OSU intends to increase the availability of these scholarships to more disciplines. Through continued support of this program, we will build a cadre of scientists and researchers for the future.

Endowed chairs are the backbone for successful recruiting of excellent faculty. With the prestige and support from an endowed position, OSU can offer a more attractive faculty line to the best researchers and scholars in the field. With excellent faculty members, our research productivity increases, we recruit better graduate students, and we offer more innovative classes to our undergraduates.

Endowed Graduate Fellowships are the cornerstone of building an exceptional graduate program. Without the support of endowed fellowships, many graduate students would look elsewhere to attend graduate school. These fellowships allow OSU to recruit the best and brightest in a competitive market.

Student Travel Awards allow our students the opportunity to share their hard work with peers and the professional community. Travel to a professional conference to present research findings is a key component to student involvement in research activities. Many students pay for these conferences out of their own pocket, just to get the experience of a conference. The travel awards will help OSU share the excellent knowledge generated by our students

Faculty Travel Awards give our esteemed faculty the opportunity to meet with colleagues, participate in professional development and share the knowledge they have generated on a national scale. Attending professional conferences is an integral part of the research process, as faculty communicate their findings and get insight into new research avenues and potential collaborative efforts. National exposure of the research at OSU will continue to increase OSU’s reputation.

An Endowed Laboratory Replenishment Fund will give OSU the opportunity to increase the standard of laboratory offerings associated with required science classes. Student experiments often require new materials, and as heavily used equipment becomes worn, this fund will supplement OSU’s efforts to upgrade the equipment and increase the availability of consumables to students.
