OSU-OKC General Scholarship Fund

OSU-OKC has made great strides in providing accessibility to students from all socio-economic levels.  However, educational costs continue to rise while federal and state funds for college education continue to decline.  Students are enrolling in fewer credit hours and some are just not attending college at all because the financial burden is so great.  Without an increase in scholarships to our students, OSU-OKC will not be able to recruit, retain and educate the requisite workforce that will be needed if Oklahoma is to diversify its economy and compete in the 21st century.

Goal - $1.5 million

OSU-OKC Child Development Center/Lab School

The OSU-OKC Child Development Center (CDC) was founded in 1991 to focus primarily on inclusive quality care for children of families in the OKC community, and for children of OSU-OKC students, faculty and staff.  Its purpose as an observation site for campus nursing and psychology students was secondary. Today, the transition into a full working educational lab school incorporating the early care education academic program, as well as the nursing, emergency management services and psychology programs, will establish the Child Development Lab School (CDLS) as a lateral focus supporting academic programs on campus.   A stable financial base for CDC resources is needed to continue to provide quality child care at affordable tuition rates for families and to reinforce and expand academic programs and students’ learning.

Goal - $300,000

OSU-OKC Project Second Chance

The on-going mission of Project Second Chance is to provide educational supportive services to low-income single parents attending OSU-Oklahoma City to help them achieve their academic goals, thus, improving their employment prospects and quality of life. By providing a comprehensive network of supportive services, many of the roadblocks, which often cause students to fail, are removed. Through the network already established with the Oklahoma Department of Human Services, Aid to Families with Dependent Children and Food Stamp Divisions, and local business, Project Second Chance identifies people at or below the poverty level who could benefit from this program. Once these individuals have been identified, Project Second Chance will assess and evaluate them educationally and professionally and provide counseling within one month of identification to determine program eligibility.

Since the inception of the program in 1997, hundreds of Project Second Chance students have achieved outstanding success through this unique program that is breaking the poverty cycle of low wage, no future employment that faces many single, Oklahoma parents today.

Goal - $100,000
