Dr. Byoungho Jin is teaching tomorrow’s sales force that emerging markets can be
sellers’ markets. The recipient of a U. S. Department of Agriculture grant, she’s
developed course materials to help U.S. students understand business in India and
China. The two countries together are home to about half the world’s population—and
billions of potential consumers.
Students really enjoy exploring cultural differences between the United States and
other nations, Dr. Jin noted. When class discussions focus on business cultures
and buying behaviors, students begin to imagine their professional options reaching
beyond Oklahoma. “OSU students are very sincere, and they are very eager to do well,”
she said. She’s confident it’s only a matter of time before Oklahoma-based businesses
take a greater share of international markets.
